What about the people who can't make the caravan? Can we get directions or the name of the place we are staying?

And on another note, what are we doing about food? Anybody have a portable grill that they can bring?

Also, I'll look around the house to see what I have, I know I have half a bag of charcoal I can bring if needed.

I also have one of those baby kegs of Heineken that I can bring if someone wants to shoot it, unless there is actually someone that drinks that stuff.

From the South
FROM FLORIDA - The directions depend on whether I-75 or I-95 is better for you. For I-95, go north to I-26 west towards Columbia, SC. Then take I-40 west at Asheville and follow the Asheville directions below. For I-75, you will go north towards Atlanta. We suggest you bypass Macon using I-475 and bypass Atlanta to the east by taking I-675 north to I-285 east then follow ‘From East Atlanta’ below.
FROM WEST ATLANTA - Take I-75 North to I-575 North, which will become Hwy 515 North. Just past the town of Blue Ridge, GA, turn left at traffic light onto GA Hwy 60 toward Murphy, NC. Go approximately 3 miles, in the town of Mineral Bluff turn right onto Spur 60 and continue 15 miles until Hwy 60 dead ends into Hwy 19/74. Turn right onto US Hwy 19/74 East. You will pass through Murphy and Andrews. Watch your speed!
Outside Andrews, US Hwy 19/74 will narrow to a two-lane highway and proceed into the Nantahala Gorge. The drive through the Gorge is about 20 miles of winding road alongside the Nantahala River, so please drive safely. You will pass the Nantahala Outdoor Center at the bottom of the Gorge, then the Nantahala Village as you leave the Gorge. Just as the highway opens up into 4 lanes, turn left on to 28N. Follow directions below entitled ‘From Hwy 28N.’
FROM EAST ATLANTA - Take I-85 North to I-985 (towards Gainesville, GA). North of Gainesville, I-985 turns into Hwy 441 North, which travels to the town of Franklin, NC (follow the signs for 441 bypass, not 441 business). Stay on 441 to the towns of Dillsboro and Sylva, NC, where 441 intersects with hwy 19/74. Take Hwy 19/74 West toward Bryson City, NC. Go about 20 miles, past all 3 Bryson City exits. At one point, 28S joins your road, but keep going and the 4-lane highway splits into two two- lane roads at mile marker 59. Here, turn right at the split on to 28N. Follow directions below entitled ‘From Hwy 28N.’
From the EAST (Asheville)
Out of Asheville take I-40 West to Exit 27, Hwy 19/74/64 West, to Cherokee/Atlanta/Bryson City. Stay on this highway approximately 35 miles and you will see signs labeling this highway "Great Smoky Mountain Expressway". Another 15 miles (you will pass all 3 Bryson City ) At one point, 28S joins your road, but keep going and the 4-lane highway splits into two two- lane roads at mile marker 59. Here, turn right at the split on to 28N. Follow directions below entitled ‘From Hwy 28N.’
From the WEST (Chattanooga)
Out of Chattanooga take I-75 North to Hwy 64 East. Stay on this highway past the Ocoee river and into North Carolina. As you approach Murphy, NC, the road will also be called Hwy 19/74. You will pass through Murphy and Andrews. Watch your speed! Outside Andrews, US Hwy 19/74 will narrow to a two-lane highway and proceed into the Nantahala Gorge. From the North/West (Knoxville)
OPTION A- If you prefer to go through Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge (heavy traffic and winter road hazards!!) then follow this: Out of Knoxville take I-40 East to the TN-66 exit, exit #407, south towards GATLINBURG / SEVIERVILLE / PIGEON FORGE. Go about 20 miles to the Gatlinburg bypass (note that TN-66 becomes US441). After bypassing Gatlinburg, go another 35 miles or so through the Smoky Mountain National Park towards Cherokee, NC, and ultimately turn on Hwy 74 west towards Bryson City.
OPTION B-To avoid Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge (recommended): take I-40 east towards Asheville all the way to exit #27 (Hwy 74 WEST). Note you go further east and then backtrack west, but this is a faster route. Take Hwy 74 west towards Waynesville, Sylva, Cherokee, and Bryson City.
AFTER CHOOSING OPTION A OR OPTION B, THEN: Watch the mile markers on Hwy 74 and pass all 3 Bryson City exits (mile markers 69, 67, and 64). At one point, 28S joins your road, but keep going and the 4-lane highway splits into two two-lane roads at mile marker 59. Here, turn right at the split on to 28N. Follow directions below entitled ‘From Hwy 28N’

When you turn on to hwy 28N, you will immediately cross over a bridge where the Nantahala River terminates into Fontana Lake. Keep going for about 4 miles (ESTIMATE) and you will see the entrance to the Tsali Recreation Area on the right. Keep going into Graham County for another 2 miles (ESTIMATE) and you will take a left turn on TOBACCO BRANCH RD. (if you go all the way to the town of Stecoah, you have gone too far). Follow the Tobacco Branch Road about 1.1 miles and look for stoned columns and a gate for the entrance to DOUBLE SPRINGS community (Double Springs Rd- The gate is closed in the evenings - GATE CODE IS 2541). Follow this gravel road about one-quarter mile, staying to the RIGHT at all forks. The cabin will be on your left in a clearing and on a small pond. (THE KEY IS IN A LOCKBOX MOUNTED BY THE MAIN LEVEL DOOR. THE LOCKBOX COMBINATION IS THE LAST 4 DIGITS OF THE PHONE NUMBER: . Please restore the key to this box upon your final departure.
Mountain Driving Tips:
Highways with long inclines – turn your overdrive off.
Loose gravel roads with inclines – use low gears and don’t spin your tires; take turns WIDE
Steep or long downhill grades – don’t ride your brake! Use low gears to slow your pace
Spinning tires on gravel – reverse back down the hill and try again with faster and steady pace in low gear If you come to a stop on an incline, it is difficult to start again on gravel, so back down the hill.

food plans?

more booze, then who needs food? no, driving trip, eh? either way.

I'll have plenty of room/seats available if you can make due with being uncomfortable on the trip over to the meet up point. Would pick up, but not driving across town and then coming all the way back (would be like 80 extra miles for most people).

We stop at the ingles(?) in robbinsville and also gas up/get any other supplies. I'll have plenty of room for stuff.

I have an extra seat but you are pretty far away. If you can make your way to and back from Jasons, you can catch a ride with me.

I'm planning on bringing a bunch of photography equipment (studio lights and battery packs) in hopes of getting some shots of us, and doing some night photography. should have a good bit of room to help hold food stuffs tho.
